Morningside Heights has shown great resilience and community spirit during the Coronavirus pandemic. We applaud our community’s efforts to keep safe and are thankful for the essential services and business personnel who continue to operate. They are our local heroes.
While all of that is occurring, MHCC keeps a watchful eye on long-term neighborhood issues and continues to advocate for policy initiatives that will preserve our neighborhood’s character and quality of life. A key example is rezoning.
Several months ago, NYC Council Speaker Corey Johnson committed to advancing our efforts in the years-long effort to rezone Morningside Heights. We appreciate his support, as well as the active involvement of other elected officials including City Council Member Mark Levine, Borough President Gale Brewer, State Assembly Member Danny O’Donnell, State Senator Brian Benjamin.
Here is an article from Curbed which describes the issue effectively. Please engage with us to share your perspectives or ask any questions on this important campaign.
