Moon Palace and Heuston Copy are just two locally owned businesses that served generations of Morningside Heights residents and are now gone. Paul Auster’s groundbreaking novel, “Moon Palace” is set in the neighborhood. It is a story of dislocation and the search for home and family. The former copy shop is now a sales office for The Vandewater, a luxury residential tower rising next to the Jewish Theological Seminary on West 122nd Street.

It will take a village to maintain and improve our community.

The ongoing success of our efforts to keep Morningside Heights authentic, affordable, and diverse depends on strong local networks of support and information.

As our community members connect to greater degrees, our collective strength and capabilities expand.
